Asbestos

Elite Environmental Consulting can conduct asbestos testing to identify the location, extent, and condition of suspect asbestos containing material (ACM) such as vinyl floor tile, sheet vinyl, floor mastics, drywall joint compound, textured painted surfaces, acoustic ceiling, roof shingles, exterior siding, insulation, and wrapping on HVAC ducts and plumbing. We provide recommendations on asbestos abatement procedures and provide air sampling upon completion of abatement to insure area is available for re-occupancy.

Asbestos Inspection & Testing

Generally speaking, if your home was built before 1984 you should have any suspected asbestos materials tested, however asbestos can be present in a newer home depending on the materials used and where the building materials were manufactured.

Exposure to airborne asbestos can cause adverse health effects and continued exposure can increase the amount of asbestos fibers that remain in the lungs. Fibers embedded in lung tissue over time may cause serious lung diseases including: asbestosis, lung cancer, or mesothelioma. Tobacco smokers who have been exposed to asbestos have a far greater-than-additive risk for lung cancer than do nonsmokers who have been exposed, meaning the risk is greater than the individual risks from asbestos and smoking added together.

There are many laws and regulations associated with asbestos removal in residential and commercial buildings that vary by state and city. Repairs to asbestos containing materials (ACM) must be done only by trained professionals with methods to safely handle asbestos since there is always a risk of exposure to fibers when asbestos is disturbed.

Never remove a suspected or confirmed asbestos containing material without consulting a licensed asbestos professional who is familiar with the regulations applicable in your area. Doing repairs yourself is not recommended because improper handling of asbestos materials can create a hazard where none previously existed.

Elite Environmental Consulting can provide inspection, sampling, and recommendations for residential and commercial buildings. Call us anytime, we’d be happy to discuss your asbestos testing needs.

Lead

Elite Environmental Consulting will conduct a thorough investigation to identify the location, quantity and condition of any suspect lead-based paints and lead containing paints within the building followed by a comprehensive report to document findings and provide recommendations. If lead is present on any painted surface such as drywall, plaster, exterior siding, window trim, or ceramic tile it can cause an array of health issues and remediation is necessary. Once remediation has been completed we can conduct a lead dust clearance to insure lead contamination is not present.

Lead Inspection and Testing

If your home was built before 1978 you may have suspect lead-based/containing paint even if there are multiple layers. Suspect building materials found in and around our homes include interior/exterior paint, ceramic tiles and coatings, flooring and plumbing materials. In addition, perimeter soils, window sills and other exterior components can be subject to contamination.

In 1978, the federal government banned consumer uses of lead-containing paint and before that in 1971, the Lead-Based Paint Poisoning Prevention Act, which restricted the lead content in paint used in housing built with federal dollars and provided funds for states to reduce the amount of lead in paint, was signed.

Federal Law requires that individuals receive certain information before renting or buying pre-1978 housing: Landlords must disclose known information about lead-based paint and paint hazards before leases take effect. These leases must include a disclosure form pamphlet about lead-based paint. Sellers must also disclose known information about lead-based paint and paint hazards before selling a house. Contracts must include a disclosure form and buyers have up to 10 days to check for lead hazards.

Federal law also requires that contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb paint in homes, condos, offices, commercial sites, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and trained to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

Elite Environmental Consulting can provide inspection, sampling, and recommendations for residential and commercial buildings. Call us anytime, we’d be happy to discuss your lead testing needs.

Mold

Elite Environmental Consulting can identify, assess, and recommend remedy of discovered mold and its impact on indoor air quality. We will perform an inspection including moisture readings, bio aerosol testing (air testing), surface sampling, and relative humidity readings to assess possible contamination issues. Our reports provide laboratory results and recommendations on mold remediation and offer project monitoring. Upon completion of a mold remediation project, we can complete a microbial clearance test.

Mold Inspection and Testing

Elite Environmental Consulting offers a variety of microbial consultation services so that we can assist you in identifying, assessing, and remediating any issue discovered and its impact on indoor air quality.

Molds are microscopic organisms that digest organic matter and reproduce. Mold is problematic when it enters the home from an outside environment and then settles on wet or damp surfaces. It is important to know that mold needs moisture to grow. Controlling mold is a matter of controlling the moisture in the home. Mold has a musty odor and can also be visible. Small black, darkened, or white specks near a water source or damp area indicate possible microbial growth.

Reactions to mold can develop in individuals with allergies or asthma, but doesn’t generally affect healthy individuals. Those with sensitivity to mold or individuals with prolonged mold exposure can experience symptoms such as running nose, coughing, rash, congestions, and difficulty breathing. People with immune deficiency, lung diseases, or very young or older individuals are at an increased risk for infections from mold exposure.

Elite Environmental Consulting can provide inspection, sampling, and recommendations for residential and commercial buildings. Call us anytime, we’d be happy to discuss your mold testing needs.

Bacteria

Elite Environmental Consulting can identify microbes including viruses, parasites, bacteria, and yeasts that can be present after a sewage contamination from raw sewage backup, severe flooding, and leaking sewer lines or septic tanks. Our report will identify these microbes and recommend cleanup and decontamination procedures. Bacteria clearance testing should be conducted once remediation has been completed to insure a proper cleaning has been done and the environment is free from contamination.

Bacteria Inspection and Testing

Sewage waste water may be contaminated with a wide variety of microbes, including viruses, parasites, bacteria, and yeasts. In the event of sewage water contamination caused by severe flooding, leaky pipes or septic tanks, it is necessary to complete cleanup and disinfection.  To ensure that the cleanup and disinfection was successful, and the living environment is free of contamination from sewage associated microbes, clearance testing is recommended.

Potential disease-causing organisms in sewage contamination include Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Shigella. Most coliform bacteria are harmless, but their presence indicates the possible presence of disease causing bacteria, viruses, or parasites. These organisms can cause a number of diseases, such as dysentery, hepatitis, cholera, and typhoid fever.

Elite Environmental Consulting can identify these microbes and upon decontamination, provide clearance testing.
